1939-45 WW II:
While the M1905 was the standard bayonet used from 1905 up until the WWII, there was a different version that was used during this period. The M1 had a ten inch blade and was made for the M1 Garand. It was basically the save as the M1905 except it had the shorter blade. They were manufactured by different makers of firearms. The M1 Garand bayonet was the first model meant for the M1 Garand rifle The M1 was a well built weapon that had either blued or Parkerized metal blades. It also had a spear pointed tip. Also manufactured to be used on the M1 Garad and the Springfield 03-A3 was the M142 Springfield bayonet. It had a blade that was just a bit shorter than the 16 inches of the M1905 measuring in at 15 ¾ inches. The grips were made from black plastic and it had a steel blade with a fuller on both sides and a single cutting edge just like the M1905 had. Many of the M1905 were refurbished and then called the M1905/42. The scabbards are the same type of material as other bayonets used in the military and green in color.
